Google Earth POI's (Points Of Interest) kmz file.

  • The following are my own experiences from previous years. It might be quite different at the next "Märklintage".

Please also read the programs and flyers from the previous years.

The "Märklintage" usually consists of 5 main events and a 6th possible event :
    1. The train station in Göppingen
    2. The "Märklin Museum" - ( Erlebniswelt )
    3. The "Stauferpark" exhibition ground
    4. The "Leonhard Weiss" company
    5. The "EWS Arena"
    6. Märklin Märklin "Werk 1"
The shuttle bus stops at all these events except at the "Werk 1".

    1. Train station in Göppingen

The station has 11 tracks. All but 2 are used for the "Märklintage". Tracks 5 and 6 are used for the normal train schedule.

All the rest are more or less used for the "Märklintage" :
    • locomotives on display
    • shunting trains for the trips to Amstetten and to Plochingen
    • the railbus shuttle to "Leonard Weiss"
    • the cab-trips up and down the platform in a steam-locomotive
Expect to see 3 - 6 steam-locomotives, several old-time E-locomotives and diesel-locomotives, as well as some newer locomotives on display.

A steam-locomotive should be going to and from Plochingen about 4 times a day ( only Saturday and Sunday ).

Another steam-locomotive will be giving short "cab-rides" within Göppingen train station.

There should be train pulled by 2 steam-locomotives going to Amstetten and back ( only once Saturday and once Sunday ).

Märklin has a table at the train station where you can buy tickets, get information etc.

You can watch the arrival and the departure of the special trains.

The station is also a great meeting point for catching up with friends.
